The loft has been without a railing for a very long time now and realising that this is of course a hazard, I’ve been looking for a solution for an equally long time. Several ideas came and went but none of the really resonated in terms of style, materials or cost factors. We finally found a set of railings and newel posts at a local antique store that looked like they were going to fit the bill perfectly. The railings needed a good cleaning, some patching and a some paint touch-ups here and there. The posts were raw and needed a few coats of paint to match the railings and some trimming at the bottom to get the right height. Then on to installing them. We’re extremely happy with the results. Below are a few pictures of the project.
