MY LONGBOWS
I create Longbows from well seasoned staves of various species of wood such as Ash, Elm and Yew.
These are also known as “Selfbows” as they are created from a single piece of wood.
I also create “Board Bows” from high quality, straight grained dimensional lumber such as Maple, Oak and Hickory. These may be built from more than one single species of wood, e.g. the riser may be laminated from a complimentary wood.
MY BOWSTRINGS
Upgrade or replace your Bow or Tillering Strings with one of my premium handcrafted Flemish Twist Strings.
Made from BCY B-55 materials, these strings are suitable for traditional Longbows, Flat Bows, Board Bows and Recurves.
Strings come in single loop or double loop.
Use single loop strings when you need an adjustable loop (Bowyer’s Knot a.k.a. Timber Hitch) at one end. For example to use as a tillering string, for testing bows during the build process or to determine the actual string length you need to achieve the proper brace height for a given bow. Single loop strings do not come with centre servings,
Use double loop strings for actually shooting the finished bow. These have slightly different loop sizes for the bottom and upper limbs i.e. bigger top loop to facilitate stringing the bow. These strings are made with centre servings and pre-tied adjustable nocking points.
All strings can be ordered in 12, 14 or 16 strand bundles and in single or two tone colours.
